The inimitable Slava Kaganovich

I have already written about the By the Way Theatre. Several years ago – and this happened! – a theatre studio from Chicago brought the play Ay dont understand! to Moscow. The Russian-language theatre troupe in Chicago was created by actor Vyacheslav Kaganovich, who also plays the main roles in the plays. And he plays so wonderfully that it is impossible to tear yourself away!
I don't really like one-man shows. One actor must have such talent to keep the audience in suspense for at least an hour! Slava Kaganovich has exactly this kind of talent, he is an Artist with a capital letter. It's a pity that Russian viewers will hardly see him now, but I was lucky - Slava sent me, as his fan, a recording of a wonderful one-man show "Repair of watches, bicycles and photography". I couldn't tear myself away. I haven't experienced such strong theatrical delight for a long time.
One hero on stage. But you don't notice it. The play is filled with so many living memories that the stage seems cramped for its heroes. And they all speak, sometimes excitedly and simultaneously, and the actor is alone on stage, and this is a miracle that real theater can create.
I envy those who can see the performances of “By the Way” live on stage. I remember what a wild energy emanated from the actors’ performance (Slava Kaganovich and Marina Karmanova) during the performance “Ay dont understand!”, which they showed in Moscow on the stage of the School of Contemporary Play theater.
And yet it’s good that now you can at least watch a recording of the wonderful Actor.
Slava, thank you!
