Florida theatre “By The Way” (*1) brought the play “My Gorin” to Toronto

It so happened that the Green Living Room constantly invites visiting stars. But we really wanted to be visited by our own, Chicago man, whom we all know and love. We needed a reason. The reason presented itself. On February 12, we are going to the BytheWay theater for the play "The Voice". This is a one-act dramatization of the story of the same name by science fiction writer Sever Gansovsky.

The theater studio "By the way" of Vyacheslav Kaganovich continues the glorious tradition of theatrical asceticism in Chicago. For which he deserves enormous gratitude from those who need the theater no less than their daily bread.

Once again, Russian Chicago awaits its premiere. On October 22, 2011, the Vyacheslav Kaganovich Theatre Studio will present the play “Aydont andersten” based on the play “The Victim Goldiner” by Viktor Shenderovich. The director of the play is Sergey Kokovkin. Starring: Vyacheslav Kaganovich and Marina Karmanova. In the last issue of our newspaper, we spoke with the author of the play. Now, the director has the floor.

Many people in Chicago know Vyacheslav Kaganovich. They know him from the Creative Association “Tema” and bard gatherings, from his author’s program on the radio “Novaya Zhizn” which he has been hosting on Tuesdays for twelve years now, from the “Atrium” theater, the creation of which he initiated, from his recent performances “My Gorin”, “My Dolsky” and “Aydont Understend”.

Theatre, as an art, aims to achieve the maximum degree of empathy with the characters by the viewer. If the viewer does not feel himself in the same situation as the hero, then the performance has failed.

Do you love theatre? I will ask the readership in the words of the Russian critic Vissarion Belinsky, and I will rephrase: do you love theatre as Vyacheslav Kaganovich does?

Toronto is by no means a world theatre capital, but in the summer the city hosts two festivals of “independent” theatres – “Fringe” and “SummerWorks” (there is also an international festival “Luminato”).

Rehearsals for the play “Eight Loving Women” based on the play by French playwright Robert Thomas are in full swing at the By The Way Studio Theatre. The theatre’s founder and director Vyacheslav Kaganovich is making his debut as a director.

Honestly, I don't know why Slava Kaganovich, who founded the Atrium Theatre in his time, was forced to leave it (I don't like battle stories and don't ask anyone unnecessary questions), but it is absolutely clear that it happened for the best: talented, smart, devilishly energetic, fanatically loving theatre Slava, to put it mildly, did not lose from this. Well, okay - of course he won. And I am very happy for him.

On October 22, 2011, the Vyacheslav Kaganovich Theatre Studio (Chicago, Illinois) will present the play “Aydont Understend” based on the play by Viktor Shenderovich “The Victim Goldiner”.
