"He was tragic in art, he stirred up tragedy with his death. But his spiritual meaning and greatness live on. And his life in art is an example for future generations."

Ivan Kozlovsky. Singer.

"The Jewish people lost six million people in the war, Mikhoels - the seventh million"

"Now it is clear to me why there is no real Shakespeare in England. Because we do not have an actor like Solomon Mikhoels."

Gordon Craig. Director.

Who is he? The great magician of the Jewish stage, its uncrowned king. My heart sank, a premonition arose… His name, as an “enemy of the people,” was uprooted. I wrote a play about this. At first it was called “The Countess and the King,” and then “The Last Role of Solomon Mikhoels.” Today, you, dear viewers, are watching this play, and I am with you in spirit.
